There are lots of good reasons to write essays, but the essential one is that one writes an essay to organize an communicate one's thoughts on a subject to others.
A student who is likely to use ChatGPT to "write" on Chaucer is also likely to not have many meaningful thoughts on Chaucer.
It is the fact that there is a difference between these two things that is the essence of the problem.
You can still leave the house! You can go for a walk. You can pack a picnic and eat in the park. You can meet friends at the library. You can go shopping! You are confined to your home.
Fight/Vote for better wages. Don't stiff servers.
And when we fully transition away, I will still tip because the minimum wage is $17.50 in my city which is crazy low for a skilled job.
