The CCC put this in a presser tho - & Guardian did the same thing they did with the food & farming commission report, used (irrelevant) chicken shop picture, the end result is issues overshadowed, m/class readers feel complacent, w/class readers feel understandably aggrieved & unfairly singled out.

I get it! There’s a need for nuanced discussions, which ofc social media is terrible at. Need to reckon with already dire diet discourse, Public Health been neoliberalised, away from social determinants to finger-wagging, +trad media’s unhelpfully narrow class experience, all fuels unhelpful divides

I think diets are driven far more by personal circumstances and health reasons than climate ones. In the current geopolitical climate & domestic cost of living situation I can’t see many meat eaters changing for those reasons & those who see a kebab as probably the only treat left definitely not

And as for the other points in the article about taxes flights more that won’t reduce the amount of flights only price out the poorest people (maybe) it certainly won’t stop record private jet use or offset military emissions
