If we don't have the process down, we can't reliably evaluate the output even if (and what an 'if' it is!) we can solve the other problems of ChatGPT et al. It's key to know how to do the thing before you start using tools to abstract away parts of the thing-doing.

New research from MIT found that those who used ChatGPT can’t remember any of the content of their essays.

Key takeaway: the product doesn’t suffer, but the process does. And when it comes to essays, the process *is* how they learn.
