Granted, as a settler, I'm not sure if I would be the best say stuff here. But as I recall, Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould was in cabinet as the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. She was then shuffled over to Minister of Veterans Affairs and Assoc Minister of National Defence.

If I recall correctly, she may have been offered a position relating to Indigenous people, but turned it down. Trudeau then appointed her as Minister of Veterans Affairs instead.

Trudeau's aide, Gerry Buttz, had indicated that he would have given her a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

If I recall correctly, Wilson-Raybould didn't want a role in which she would be administering and overseeing the implementation of the Indian Act.

So she asked for a different portfolio instead, and got it. Granted, there were serious questions about her being bumped from justice.

As things were, when there was a shuffle in cabinet in a way that Wilson-Raybould's successor, the Hon. David Lametti, was out of the role, he was bounced entirely from cabinet.

Also, when there was a shuffle under PM Carney, the Hon. Arif Virani was shuffled out of not just the role of Min of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, but also bounced from cabinet entirely.

As per the role of Minister of Indigenous Services, this was a position created by the Trudeau government, in 2017. (Rather than 2015.) The first person to occupy the role was the Hon. Dr. Jane Philpott. She was ultimately one of the two women bounced from caucus by Trudeau in 2019.

curiously, one of the side effects of separating the prior ministry into two -- Crown-Indigenous Relations and Indigenous Services -- was that many of the links for the old ministry would just redirect to a landing page, which would direct people to one or the other ministry.

Basically, the links were essentially broken. Hopefully, they have gotten over most of that.

Albeit, if the Cons get back into power, what could happen would be merging the two into one again. That could create further website mishaps.

But the Libs are in, at least for the moment.
