Yes higher cost with occupancy and I read it's already been renovated. So taxpayers have paid enough for PP. He screamed for over a year + for an election. If he doesn't like the results, not our fault. Get out. Now.

It could be a long time. The PM has to call a byelection in the riding where one Cons would have resigned. That could take up to 180 days then add 30 days campaigning you are at the beginning of January 2026. If PP is elected it could go till spring before getting his seat.🤣

Someone else on here suggested that PM Carney move into Stornoway because Sussex Drive is uninhabitable and then they could tear it down and replace it with a better house for the PM.
No other country provides free housing for the leader of the opposition.

The PM's residence is currently Rideau Cottage and it is all set up for that role. 24 Sussex needs a permanent fix, probably tearing down and replacing.

Rideau Hall is the GG's cottage, it is NOT a permanent resident for PM. Considering no other Commonwealth countries have an "Official Residence for the LOO", just get rid of that title and make Stornoway the PM residence. It is a move-in ready property.

It’s a beautiful house and should be renovated, not torn down. We are way too quick to tear historical buildings down in this country which I find sad and short-sighted. As a taxpayer I would approve of renovating and bringing it up to date. Sell Stornoway to pay for it.
