Let’s say Trump is serious and he annexes Canada but he isn’t so keen about French, he lets us have a referendum: tell me you wouldn’t consider voting yes on independence (from the US).
A referendum will have nothing to do with anything in Quebec politics. Life is good in Quebec. I predict when Poilievre is elected and starts trashing our Country a need for separation will rise.
Bring another referendum on separation. Lets do it! Add some rules. Yes side wins, then it good to go. No side wins, lose bill 96, C13 and 21 and no more referendum talks for a min of 50 years. Give Quebec a breather to begin to prosper again.
How does bill 21 fit in??? It provides a separation of church and state, freedom from religion when acessing gov services for the fastest growing minority in Canada, nones.
PQ winning provincial election ≠ automatic referendum. I repeat this ad nauseam for people in other provinces: sovereignty is *a drag* on the PQ in Quebec.
But if Poilièvre becomes PM, it will shoot up the polls. See the bright side, we all have agency.
Except PSPP has been pretty clear in saying to expect a referendum. It's a weird strategy, imo, when you don't even have maj. support for one from your own members & supporters.
Personally, I'm waiting to see how a new PLQ leader changes voting intentions in the province.
PQ leaders always get cornered and weakened by the separatist faction in the party before they’re even elected. He knows it’s a terrible idea for his chances but they hold his balls in a vice 🙃
I generally agree with you, but he seems more serious about it then previous PQ leaders have been this century. The thing is, he doesn't even need to say it bc Legault/CAQ are weak and have been a disaster. So the fact that he is saying has me concerned.
