If they wanted to make a big scary humanoid owl monster for this game, it might've been better to use the name of an actually owl-like monster from the folklore of local Native American tribes, such as Pia-Mupitsi ("Big Maneater Owl") of the Comanche, or the Stikini of the Seminole.

it is a tale from métis (loup garou/rougarou) & french diaspora, especially in cajun culture, & the "loup" part literally means wolf so you are correct! the name is far different than the design imho
