I tried to put a public records request in but I found out they charge you based on the amount of work it would take 😭 I asked them if they had data on the percentage of City of Portland employees who live in Portland, they didn't have it (surprisingly)-so I would have to pay x amount :( - ThreadSky

That is so frustrating since it such an easy report using modern HR technology. That is like a fifteenth minute query. Pull all employee mailing into csv, remove all home addresses and personal identification info, send csv w/ city data only.

If it’s truly that easy, it wouldn’t cost all that much, and they will regularly waive fees that are really too small to worry about.

If I remember correctly, you could waive a fee if you're apart of a news organization. Otherwise, you have to pay something around $25 to even have the records request sent to them to review

In my office if it takes less than a de minimus amount of time we just pull the digital record, but any query really depends. Like all permits would be easy. A specific type of permit would be harder.

I know it would take 15 minutes for anyone who has some excel experience lol. It's such bullshit honestly.
