i've been into the analysis of the furry fandom for a short period of time, and I started to wonder. For how long cheetahs have been represented? My current hypotesis is that it has been for a really short period, overshadowed by tigers and general cats. Question also applies to monkeys (dont ask y)
The earliest example I can find of a named cheetah OC is from 2005 on Furaffinity. That said, the fandom as we know it dates back to 1990 at the latest. It depends where you draw the line though:
The subject has existed in various incarnations back through the 60s with the underground comix movement, Disney in the 30s, to the "funny animal" artworks of the late 1800s. Even beyond that, the concept of anthropomorphised animals has been represented in storytelling throughout human history.
