Probably because PMD stories are on average better than the main games', and play to the appeal of the monster designs rather than the majority flatly-written human characters.

One of the reasons is probably because the PMD fanbase have been starving for a fresh new entry in the series for way too long to the point where if they don't create the content themselves they'll have nothing to eat for years.

It's you. On https://fanfiction.net or AO3 the majority of fics are either based on the anime or the main games.

But I'll grant you PMD is overrepresented on social media. Because we engage a lot with the PMD and furry fandoms, which are highly active on sights like these.

The games were more narrative focused so it only makes sense that they inspire fics a good bit as well. The eeveelution thing though is pretty much a popularity thing lol Same as Riolu, it’s just a popular mon that people wanna be a lot and lends itself well to pmd narratives :v
