I think that’s right, but the civic rot allowing people to disregard 1/6’s significance has been pronounced for far longer. Only a matter of time until someone sociopathic enough came along to take advantage.

Voters would have remembered if Dems had spent the 4 Biden years reminding voters it was Trump’s fault, prosecuting him on day one rather than letting him serve as an Opposition Leader spouting his J6 lies unopposed.

The public forgot because Dems let Trump and the GOP minimize Jan 6.

I don't think you can underestimate the GOP unified messaging on this & their support in RW media, like Fox. Once they all got on board, they weakened the narrative around J6. It was a lesson in how propaganda works.

I think most MAGAs supported (or at the very least were unbothered by) Jan 6th and are happy to bypass the Constitution to support their orange Messiah. Cults do not operate under conventional logic or equanimity, they thrive on separateness and a common mission. The Woke Mob must be defeated.

I think youre discounting how many people know what happened on January 6th. Mostly people just know it was something bad, but not sure of the details.
