I'm very sorry. I'm glad you and your siblings are able to be with your dad and I hope he knows how much he's cared for. I'm sure the staff understand.

Thank you. I am also very aware we are in privileged position to be able to fly back at a moment's notice and have the knowledge/skills to be able to care for him. Thinking of the end-of-life care I have been involved in and would have done same for my patients and their loved ones too.

He's gurgling so much. My brother (anaesthetist) and sister (nurse) taking turns doing suctioning to give him relief. He's crying every now and then. It's just distressing. Spoken to attending Dr on phone this morning to agree DNAR. Gonna do the unthinkable to ask for s/c drugs for palliation. 2/3

The staff are trying their best I know. It's a bank holiday and just urgent cover on wards. Also the least I can do to help relieve suffering, hope they won't get offended. Must be distressing for other patients and visitors too. 3/3
