To my knowledge, no staff reallocation is taking place at NWS WFO field offices. We are barely surviving. The Rapid City, SD office plans to close for six hours in the evening. To believe we are okay is disrespectful.

The statement from NOAA also seems false and disrespectful to our intelligence. “Staff reallocation” implies hundreds of people aren’t being fired but rather moved around. Reality is they’re being fired or “strongly encouraged” to retire.
