Dear Dad,
You taught me how to be a father.. Each time I run into a problem or challenge I simply think "what would my dad do here?" and, invariably, do the exact opposite.
And that tends to work pretty good for me.

You were the type of guy who would complain that he wanted ice cream but didn't want to eat it alone. And then say "you shouldn't eat ice cream all the time.. You're getting fat."

And you said it all to 5 year old me..
And it stuck..
When I fail at a task, I know it's because I'm not good enough.. You taught me that.
If I succeed! It's a fluke.. Because worthless people don't succeed.

You thought differently.
You showed me a father that would cheat on his wife.. Constantly..

I'm glad you're hatred didn't stick. Perhaps if you had stayed in my life longer it would have.
I thank whoever is above for that small miracle.

You showed me a father who didn't really care about his kids. A father who would, sometimes send cool gifts to make up for all the time he missed and a father who just couldn't be bothered to send anything.

You taught me to love my kids completely because I never wanted to make them feel like you always made me feel.
You taught me to be there for them.
You taught me to encourage them instead of ripping them down.
You made me a good father..
