We all would be terrified to be on the same field as the Eagles front four defensive line. They achieved all those sacks without even a blitz from any of the other 7 players who shut down every pass. If all Philadelphians were their size & strength we wouldn't have faired well in high school sports.
In grade school the bullies who scared me the most were not actually bullies at all, just tough kids with big feelings who sometimes noticed me and were friendly in an aggressive way, and I was terrified of what would happen if they ever stopped feeling nice.
And I am sorry, but you’re just never living it down. It will still be talked about long after football ceases to be a sport.
Might even outlast the city itself.
Oh, we're not interested in living it down. Philly sports fans know a poor performance when they see one, and aren't shy about expressing their opinion.
I'm just saying that story has outlived its shelf life. How about the time the mayor threw snowballs at the Cowboys from the upper deck?
Just watched a bit of a documentary about this. That guy wasn’t even supposed to be Santa. The guy they hired to be Santa bailed bc of the snow and the other guy just happened to be there in a Santa costume.
Post Snyder Commanders are owned by Josh Harris who we hate in Philadelphia for good reason. And take heart the Rams were the only ones to give us a game. I actually think if not for the snow the Rams could have pulled that one out since they were playing with disaster power.
The Commanders gave the Eagles a much better game! After that game I told everyone that Philly was going to hand the Chief’s their ass.
Rams - ok Packers - ok
But the Commanders were coming in hot. A team to watch!
I live on the West Coast but have close relatives who live in Philly. I visit once or twice a year. I'm in my 70's and wander all over the city by myself. I love, love, love Philadelphia!
Don't be scared of Philly, Mara. I live here. Only the bad news seems to get air time. There's a lot of good in the city of Brotherly Love. And our new Mayor is doing great things!
I disagree. Moved just outside the city after 30 yrs. Taxes sky high, crime even higher. Lying and Loud mouth mayor lining her pockets and looking out for the wealthy.
Sure, there's a lot to be done. Unlike Manhattan, Philly hasn't fully recovered from the pandemic. Krasner & Kenney disappointed. But don't dish Mayor Parker. Aside from her pro-arena stance, everything she's doing is good for the city, starting in the neediest neighborhoods.
"Enjoy" the burbs.
I think shes a horrible mayor. She swore up and down, no raising property taxes. Within 1st 3 months most properties were raised. Thats a liar to me and so I got out. Jim kenney was a little, not much but a little better. Now my property taxes are almost half in Delco than in PHILTHADELPIA!
Nothing to fear. As long as you are not a neo-nazi or a Cowboys fan you will be welcome with open arms. Philly gets a bad rap... mostly from neo-nazis and cowboys fans.
Philadelphia is definitely an enigma.
The birthplace of our Declaration

As a Chicagoland native I dig Philly's vibe: deeply unhealthy but delicious food, elevated trains, most of the housing in the city is hideous, the accent is a crime against diction, hatred of New York is mandatory, etc.
Also, John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner grew up there.
philly squirrels are a different breed. i accidentally maced one (pepper-spraying the vegetables it was chowing down on & it wouldn't leave) and that little bastard not only took it, and ran away with the squash, but climbed up the drain pipe and screamed at me every evening for a week
U.S. cities are safer than ever. Seriously. Get out of your suburb and your car and enjoy your life in a great city! New York! Chicago! Boston! LA! San Francisco! Miami! Philadephia—the city of brotherly love founded by, get his, Quakers!
Aww come and visit! We will take good care of you! Philly is like a sassy nona; we will feed you good food til you explode, and kick the shit out of anyone that fucks with you.
My mom legit feels the same way!! Said she’d never go back to games in Philly cuz the city/fans terrify her 😅 but she also does generally like it there 🤣
The only part that stands out for me is that the Eagles are less likely to visit the orange bag of dung at the White House. The Chiefs on the other hand would have bent a knee and kissed his ass.
I once interviewed for a job in Philadelphia. I liked the town, but felt intimidated somehow at the same time. I’m from Chicago, and Philadelphia felt like too much for me.
Washingtonian here who has a deep hatred/respect for Philly, but is glad they won (because we are the up and coming NFC team and coming for you.....) It is a unique place. There is nowhere like it, both the good and bad. But as others have said love it and it will love you back.
Philly has a tough reputation, but its sports teams embody the city's resilience, passion, and pride. Fans see them as a reflection of the city's spirit—hardworking, underdog mentality, and fiercely loyal. No matter the criticism, Philly sports unite the community like nothing else.
I love Philly! I played in a tournament there and we had the best time walking around downtown, eating philly cheesesteaks and seeing the incredibly short doors that the preserved historic areas had. I had no idea the forefathers were so short.
I was born raised there, have lived there off and on over my 70 years - my feeling is that the longer you stay there the better you like it. Where else will strangers talk to each other in the grocery line (complaining about the city)? And I'm not even a sports fan.

Just be mindful of the neighborhood you're in.
Let me tell you about the night I spent in Roanoke, VA. 😬
That's Philly!
(He says, only having recently horrified my adult child who lives there when I told her how the town booed Santa Claus.)
Also, Santa was falling-down drunk and totally deserved it.

But you’re stuck with the Santa thing, sorry.
Still mad they eliminated my Rams and beat post Snyder Commanders, though.

I was nearby Philly after the first Super Bowl win. Good lord it was like a war had broken out.
Also, John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner grew up there.
but the first part’s easy!
fair
That was a proper smooshening
Even friendly hitchhiking Canadian robots aren't safe.
(Also, side note, I thought you where great in Thomas and the Magic Railroad!)
It is GOOD that the Eagles won today.
Only for one day.
I miss North Jersey Sloppy Joes on Super Bowl Sunday.
Phllly, a measly 2.
Not nice. Kind.
Strong FAFO energy.
