During my bike commutes on, mostly, mixed-use trails and bike lanes, I'm constantly amazed that so many adults have made it to today years old with their complete lack of situational awareness.

It's always the grocery store where someone not paying attention will almost blunder right into me, then jump startled like I just appeared out of the mist.
My thing is, what's going on in your phone that can't wait? Because I bet it can.
Tbh most Americans, from the US, have very poor spatial awareness, especially while walking. I think it’s b/c people rarely walk. Other than to the car, or refrigerator. Tourists, esp in NYC, are a case in point.
People in Seattle did this which was especially infuriating because the sidewalks are so narrow you have to slow down to allow people to carry on their casual conversation while you boil over with rage..
...alternatively I had some other things going on in Seattle. Multiple things can be true.
I feel like a frustrated Flash, zipping through the market at high speed only to be only to be blocked by electric carts, lingerers, and people who shop in random order and don't really know what they want and have no shopping list and, apparently, nowhere else to be.
5 minutes and it is apparent. What is interesting is that our rural and non-urban areas have bred a belief that ONLY the "city folks" are unaware. Answer this: why are those people unaware of the impact of non-natural phenomena? Their Representatives' actions?
The bikers and scooters drivers on the paved trail at my park like to use us walkers as pylons, racing around at speeds fast enough to kill someone. I'm situationally aware of them and they scare the fuck out of me.
This was prompted by a jogger, who was wearing headphones and taking picture off the side of the trail as I approached, doing a no-look crossing of the trail and almost running into me.
And that adults, that I assume can read and have dl, can’t seem to understand that e-bikes are motorized vehicles and should not be on bike paths. They are, basically, mopeds and belong on the street.

Me, now unable to move forward to scan and get in: "Are you fucking kidding me?!"
There are clueless bikers, but I am certain you know that.
The other day in the bike lane - in the right direction - a pickup truck started to swerve toward me from oncoming.
“He” might have not done it on purpose.
I never act like I ever have the right-of-way.
They are immune to persuasion and reason and are incapable of learning.
Modern life is profoundly frustrating.
