It’s a long time coming. Teesside County Borough had ambitions for a Metro system back in 1968. Cleveland CC also had plans. Currently were further away from it than ever!
The world's first inter-city railway from Liverpool to Manchester, now takes 40 minutes for a 29 mile journey. It was faster by steam. I wouldn't get your hopes up 🙄
I have a prediction: the next 200 years of the Stockton to Darlington railway will be remarkably similar to the last 200 years unless significant spending power is devolved from Westminster to the people who know how to spend it in the regions. If it happens, it will happen slowly.
