I do not think the Commission's response was negative as they did NOT say that Canada is not European or cannot join, they refused to answer or merely confirmed that Art. 49 of the treaty says that any "European state" may apply to join. 1/15
You might want to have a word with the indigenous population, as well as their vast numbers of immigrant residents from around the globe.
Mexico?
Guatemala?
The United States?
Because there's no logical reason why those countries couldn't join the EU if Canada can.

Scotland is for the out!
Iβd take back what is rightfully ours.
The right to be an independent country to make our own choices and decisions.
Scotland needs the rπ/UN to recognise us as an independent nation or weβre png (persona non grata).
Thereβs been a lot of anti-European rhetoric in the UK for a while but I donβt think itβs possible to deny that weβre European.
Canada with itβs British and French heritage, commitment to liberal democracy combined with its European approach to public services, like healthcare, could be considered culturally European!
