So. Update on computer issues:
Narrowed it down to software somewhere. Had to get a new air cooler after our nzxt 240 died.

Still don't know *what* software it is. Disabled a bunch of startup ones and reset and graphics settings. Still running for hours after doing that. So it's something in there.
