If we ever find a means of achieving extreme velocities that doesn't require conserving the momentum of the vehicle I hope people of the future look back at our era of chucking everything overboard in a desperate effort to accelerate as the noble savagery that it is. I love our era.
Beautiful capture! It’s incredible how advanced these vehicles are, yet it feels like we’re still in the Stone Age for rocket technology. I’m excited about what the future holds. What are your thoughts, Tory?
Rocket technology has changed enormously over my career, although it may not be as obvious to the untrained eye. Much of it has been in material science, avionics, and our ability to push the limits of performance via advanced analytical tools.
Absolutely, like how Atlas used isogrid due to less advanced FEA tools, while Vulcan’s barrels use orthogrid. Question: what do you think about aerospike engines? Will they go mainstream anytime soon?
That's so cool. I wish Venturestar had continued. Could you tell me about the technical or other challenges that led to its cancellation, besides market demand?
