It’s presented without comment or pushback, which to me is the same thing. If in 1979, if I had quoted someone from NBC saying, “You should ask Nielsen why we are TV’s No 1 network,” and then added no other context, I would have been presenting that ridiculous lie as fact.

I don't wanna be cruel, but the segment producer absolutely looked at the clip, said, "Do we need to say that this isn't true? Nah, this man is clearly a product of consanguination." To me, this is the same thing. By contrast, if the MAGA guy had said, “You should as these protestors why they hate America,” it would be obvious opinion and I wouldn’t expect CBS’s reporter to say the man had no evidence.
