That clause was the biggest mistake ever made and was only allowed because three Prov’s whining about the Fed’s would bully them without a way to ignore laws they didn’t like. You either are protected by the Charter or you are not. Opting out is a violation of our rights.

His presser was slogans and Trump policy including talk of deportations. His crime stats are either misrepresented or straight up fabrications. His housing policy puts money in developers pockets and does nothing to lower rents and his tax cuts mean services get gutted and again only benefit 1/

Creating the "Notwithstanding Clause" was a craven act of pandering. Invoking the Notwithstanding Clause should trigger an automatic election. Any government invoking this needs to confirm the Electorate has confidence in this particular decision. #cdnpoli

Point taken. QC saw it as a way of protecting itself & it played well politically. With the Notwithstanding Clause effectively negating the applicability of the charter in some circumstances makes it obvious it needs restrictions. AB & O&G demanding Emergencies Act imposed for pipelines or no Canada
