Sad that they’re pretty much all wild-caught…if I knew of someone breeding them I’d be tempted to pick one up.

I suspect this one is a wild caught one too but I have no way of knowing for sure. I'm just glad he is healthy given the circumstances he came from! Apparently he is eating great at least. I really loved hearing your stance on it though! I really appreciate that you'd rather go captive bred route! 💙

I always stress captive-bred where possible; only excuse for wild-caught is if you’re an experienced breeder either trying to establish new genetics for an inbred species or establish a species not in cultivated care yet, which vast majority of people are not.

Exactly, I don't get why people are still importing snakes that we have an abundance of genetics for, esp royals. We've had high-gene, breeding age females surrendered to us people couldn't sell... Why are people still importing normals? 😥 (I know the answer is money, but I wish it wasn't)

I think that's one reason that out of all snakes, ball pythons are the one that I could just never get interested in. They're EVERYWHERE, monotonous and a mark of capitalistic drudgery anymore. And I've seen too many neglected

I've still not seen this guy! Only very briefly a few days ago, I saw his back just under the surface, slithering away from me while I put more water in his substrate. Seems fine, just this species is very shy. Like keeping a tub of dirt! Hopefully he'll feel at home enough to eat tonight!

Yayyy! Omg this species cracks me up. He struck the thawed chick but then switched to the mouse mid 'attack'. Silly little piglet. He hung around the target for ages hoping for more food, but I was asleep. Also his head is so flat, he reminds me of Toothless.

Hilariously his name is Merlin, so for now he is "Merlin 2" 🤣 Here's our second foster, precious tiny little royal "Pearl". She wasn't feeling brave enough to say hello yet, so I just popped her into the enclosure, in her soggy cardboard tube 🩵
