Gorillas are bigger than typical apes. Up to 6ft (which is Medium technically) but males get in the 500-600 pound range. It’s going to hit harder, and be more durable.

Assuming averages, the ape has Initiative thanks to its +2 Dex mod. Commoners are Dex +0.

The ape has a 80% chance of dealing an average of 6 damage per attack, or 4.8 per fist. That’s enough to drop a commoner in one swing—two with multiattack.
