Sure. All throughout the film there are subtle radio reports in the background of an unknown monster attacking the labs where nazis are trying to create nuclear bombs. The reports are in German so we don’t notice them right away.

It’s all a setup for the B movie counterpart: Godzilla vs the Nazis!

I guess since Godzilla is a metaphor for the nuclear attacks on Japan, which were originally built to fight the nazis, it's not as far fetched.
