That's certainly one perspective. The Packers ran a "tush push" with Tucker Kraft 3 times this season on 4th down and converted all 3. One might consider they're leading a charge that other teams/organizations agree with rather than being bitter about losing 2 games. - ThreadSky

Well they have yet to come up with a good reason to ban it, so it’s clearly bitterness since the league data shows it’s not an injury concern and the pace of play is not effected

Having forward progress but allowing the offensive players to push another player forward is nonsensical. Disallowing that makes sense. Otherwise you should get rid of forward progress and allow the defense to drag the ball carrier backwards.

I don’t completely disagree. However, the reason why they got rid of the rule is it’s extremely difficult to call on the field, so the implementation is going to be a disaster trying to figure out if the lineman who pushes is pushing the defender of the ball carrier

I’d rather have them try to officiate it then have the offense be able to push or ball carrier into the end zone while the defense cannot do it.

Yup! But the last time that penalty was called was 1991 because officials determined that it’s nearly impossible to officiate that rule properly, so in 2005 the decided to get rid of the rule since it was inconsequential to the game!
