It's command line, SQL, and can be integrated with editors and visualisers - but it's not an editor itself.

What do you need to do with the data?

I use the CSVKit commands a lot to work with CSVs from the terminal.

I've recently also simply used ChatGPT to upload some CSVs and do exploratory analysis: ask questions, render graphs.

The other tool I lean on often is Google Sheets.

It is! And I like that it follows the unix philosophy of smaller commands that you can compose through pipes.

It you like TUIs, you can also check csvlens to explore a CSV.

It seems like an interesting possible small project that realistically I won't find time to build myself but then again who knows...

It would be something like Easy CSV Editor (https://vdt-labs.com/easy-csv-editor/), but with simple calculations like sums of rows/cols.

Also I've tinkered a tiny bit with Grist but my problem with it is that I usually like tools that do *just enough* and it does more than what I need.

Conceptually neat though as a no code / low code solution.

Not sure it fits but for simple calculations that require sum on a single column I use https://numi.app and sometimes I use https://calca.io
