WordPress is open source and already has great seo capabilities. It doesn’t take much to build a fast and secure wp site. It makes no sense to waste your time reinventing the wheel. Use that time on marketing and building the actual product.

Don't get me wrong, I can understand your point and seems valid.
Client will decide (~ money).
I used gentoo for years, not anymore. It was a good learning curve (problem solving :)

I’m at an age where I have 30+ years experience in tech, and if I can save someone a weekend of frustration, I will. This was directed at builders doing things for themselves. So many are so stubborn they think they need to build everything themselves. CRMs, auth, all kinds of solved issues.

Have you actually build a site with NextJS? Have you ever build a Wordpress site that has some custom structure and isn’t just a blog? NextJS has a feature to just render out a static site, whereas Wordpress always needs a running database and a PHP server even if you want to do aggressive caching.

Yes, I have. And you can generate a static sites with WordPress. Which I do for half my sites. But I don’t have to reinvent the wheel building basic functionality for a cms in next. WP has all of that in the box. “Batteries included” build your app in next, sure. But your marketing site? Nope.

I would take the argument „if you have a non-tech savvy customer who wants a WYSIWYG-editor to edit their content“. Building that with Next is admittedly a bit of work.

But that shouldn’t take away from the fact that the price you have to pay for WordPress backend is still astronomical in both infrastructure and development time.

How is that astronomical? My site lives on a $10 vps and it has a global response under 500ms. In terms of development, only an inexperienced developer takes a long time and over charges.
