Whether we like it or not, fighting back is an act of harm reduction. Because making yourself a target makes you a shield. Harm done to you is a CHANCE of redirecting harm done to another. It's no guarantee. But it's enough.

I grew up having it beaten into me that "freedom isn't free," but those same people insist that the struggle of these protestors isn't that very same fight for freedom.
People aren't retaliating for the sake of violence. This isn't an effort to oppress or suppress anyone. They are fighting a world that normalizes brutality and abuse. They are fighting to be seen and heard in a world that refuses to look at them or even listen.
So take your ignorant, short-sighted, stagnant, and unrealistic pacificism along with your absolutely bullshit concepts of incrementalism and false balance and get out of the fucking way.
