I am an older guy and remember when that used to be the norm. Society has changed so much in the last 6-10 years. There has always been hate, but it wasnβt normalized as it is today. I agree with your post completely.
Interesting. For me, it would be the opposite just because on Twitter I see more "grown-up talk". Be it politics and whatnot, and yes, hostile talk also, but pleas for being nice also seem more authentic there because people are, I think, more serious in general.
Youβve had a totally different experience to me. Twitter is where people are fake and enforce made up codes of honour as an excuse to attack every post they see. To me.
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people on Twitter who are fake, put up a front, and play ridiculous culture war games. This is my experience also. But there is also seriousness that this place still lacks. A balance.
I think has to do with the downside of anon culture. The ability to switch your handle, identity, as you please. Good thing for people who need that freedom & protection. Downside is that you might not be held responsible. It's kinda like confessing your sins to a priest. Bad deeds dont "stick"

Have to say that the vibe/scene/whatever you want to call it here made me first think that this is sarcasm. And it's sad.
Everyone crying for wolves everywhere.
It's like groundhog day of not growing past your teens here... Everyone is not skeeting, but snarking.
