I'm reading up on the Japanophobia of the 1980s and early 90s and are there any good examples of alternate history works influenced by this hysteria? Japan taking over the US/world isn't new to the genre, but the most well known examples of this trope pre/post-date that era. - ThreadSky

It certainly feels that way. I shared the map earlier and it had the USSR still existing and North Korea being a Japanese ally.

A few wargames; Milton Bradley's Fortress America; XTR's Rising Sun (not sure I have that title right); the absurd Sushi-Jalapeno War, about a joint Mexican-Japanese invasion of the West Coast (as stupid as it sounds).

The only one that comes to mind is "The Great Pacific War" talking about the wild scenario of the US and Japan going to war with eachother in the near future. But that came out in the late 1920s/early 1930s, so not the time period I presume you are looking for.

Yeah like I this trope is popular in the AH genre, but I'm not sure if there are many well known AH works that were specifically inspired by that era's anti Japanese sentiment.
