I'm at a restaurant, and I'd like to check their corned beef hash but I'm no cryptography expert.

Simply convert to base 10 and randomly select some digits to ensure they are following Benford's law. If not, the chef is a fraud.

You can't ask for alterations - they only serve it one way.

If it hasn't been properly salted sometimes the hash can collide with the gut in a way that makes it recoverable, if you know what I mean

Just do not forget to handshake the chef. You do not want to taste it and be like "ACK" that is nasty!

Best check: remove the potatoes. Is the hash still the same?

This is an Excellent Skeet
and I also recommend either
the Scottsville Diner, Scottsville, NY,
or
Mount Hope Diner, Rochester, NY,
if good hash is what you seek.
The former is in a quiet little town.
The latter is in the college district & will have demonstrably fewer red hats.
