I am looking for a situation in which serious rivals or people belonging to different classes with deep contradictions find themselves together. Preferably fantasy, ideally urban fantasy, but not necessary. It doesn’t have to be a romance novel; a fantasy with a love story is also suitable.Thanks!

Have you read AK Caggiano’s Villains and Virtues trilogy? MMC is an evil blood mage and the son of a literal demon; FMC is a nice blonde girl who really likes trees. For non-romance urban fantasy about enemy characters getting thrown together, I highly recommend any of the Watch books in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. Many of them focus on “speciesism” (analog for racism) and deal with various fantasy races and ideologies colliding.

It’s one of my favorite works of fiction. Basically “what if Terry Pratchett wrote romance?” Fair warning - when the author calls it “slow burn at a glacial pace,” she is not exaggerating.
