To be clear, I've always been for a united Ireland, but having lived both sides of the border I know we'll need a plan for things like taxes, healthcare, etc, which are a bit different.

This is all just miserable.

Yeah the expense and the increase in the cost of living is going to be insane so logistics really need working out. But at the same time I'm also concerned by the growing movements in Ireland too that lean far right :( It's like nowhere is safe from that rhetoric at the minute.

Also aaaaaabsolutely yes, the increase in cost of living and the fact that it would not be a simple transition at all needs to be figured out before anything happens. There's so many moving parts.

The only plus really is that wages WILL have to go up for the North to account for it.

However - if a united Ireland happens I'd lose my job as it's dependent on Northern Ireland being within the UK and the job market is horrendous 😭

Yeah my partner is in the same boat, his job requires him to be living somewhere where the company has an office even though he's remote. 😭 Nightmare.
