Hugh Grant truly gives a wonderful performance here. I don’t think I would’ve liked it near as much without him being cast. Also the movie is just so TENSE. I turned to my wife and whispered, “This is not letting up…👀”. There’s been some great horror movies this year, this is among the best.
Filmmakers Beck and Woods are from the Quad-Cities and built an amazing state-of-the-art movie theater here called The Last Picture House. We’re all very proud of their accomplishments.
Yes. Middle age suits Mr Grant, and the dissection of religions and belief was excellent - and uncomfortable. I enjoyed the first half especially, with its chilly, uneasy politeness. Same goes for Speak No Evil. Both veer into horror thriller territory later on.
Yeah I loved it. The entire conversations the girls had with just their eyes were my favorite part, while ol boy was just pontificating by himself. Feels allegorical
Agreed though I think it lost steam towards the end which is always a bummer…loved the theology discussions twinned with evil Hugh Grant though! And it also featured the single worst impression of a famous character ever 😅. Man’s never seen a *redacted* in his life!
I got to see it at The Last Picture House, the theater in my hometown that was started by the directors, Beck + Woods. It’s probably in my top ten of the year to be honest !
