Wild that a public commenter at the planning commission meeting said people who can’t afford it can just live outside Ann Arbor. He really said the quiet part out loud #a2council

Nah, Ann Arborites put up Black Lives Matter signs in their front yards, they just would quietly prefer if the Black Lives were in Ypsilanti or Willow Run or Dearborn.
We learn, we should not have developed farm land, look at this mess/no green space left- do not let developers do this again. 2nd lesson = Supply/demand curve - will a person pay a higher price for something because of demand is high-the higher the price some people will drop out /can't pay to play.
It is ridiculous to have to listen to everyone that was able to buy a house built on farmland 50 years ago, tell us that all open space has to be conserved. This is in every town across the nation…not only are they not selling, they are buying up every house as a rental.

Is that the quiet part? After all, if you can't afford a BMW, then you buy a used Toyota, right? Now if people can't afford any housing at all, then it is incumbent on our part to ensure that they are housed, but are we talking about the unhoused or just those who can't get what they want?

We need state funded redistribution of land to ensure all have a piece of the pie.
Trumps wealthy socialism has forced my hand, & now I’m all-in on disregarding the wealth & assets of those who’ve spent generations stealing from us.
We won’t have ghost towns when land is redistributed.
