The way people are joking about Trump being under Putin's thumb reminds me of the way people used to joke about Jimmy Saville being a nonce when I was a kid in the 1970s.

Swear it was those rumors that taught me the word necrophiliac in the early 80s
The way JS travelled the country, there stories seeded everywhere, albeit among cleaners, cooks, and other easily dismissed "little folk" in instituions
I think my view of Trump is more disturbing than than the idea he's controlled by Putin, I reckon he just agrees with him. I say that's more disturbing, as the controlled theory would also suggest the corollary, that Trump might do the right thing if he could, and nah, I don't see it.
I think you've got it. Trump actually thinks that's the way to run a nation. I'm getting a feeling of a game of Risk in the real world with a tacit agreement that Trump has the Americas, Putin Europe and Xi Asia and the Pacific. Africa up for debate
Same for Greville Janner MP, who I guess we have to refer to as an "alleged" nonce (he was "unfit to be investigated", iirc). Playground joshing of the kids in Leics County Council care: "did Greville come visit you last night?"
Pussyfooting? No, just being strictly accurate. I wouldn't want to convert every "Allegedly..." into "It is a known fact that..." just because the accused has died.
It's worth noting that his QC son brought libel actions (I assume unsuccessfully) *after* Janner Sr.'s death.

Kids know things.
