🆕 Trent has been involved in lengthy contract talks but as in the case of teammates Salah and VVD, from the outset there was a gap between what the player believes he deserves for stellar service and what the club considers affordable within their budget & self-sustainability. [Chris Bascombe]

The argument only holds weight if we believe they are replaceable for the same cost. Not sure I can think of anybody who doesn't include a huge transfer fee on top of similar wages and bonuses etc

I think that mentality is a bit simplistic. You don’t run companies based on replacing like for like. You have to accept that you might recruit someone who is less experienced/different experience/skills, and that they will do something different.

Also, transfer fees are not the same as salaries. They are different on a P&L, they are amortised differently, they are a separate budget.

We average £40-50m net spend per year on transfers. That's going to need to increase if we are to find a RB, CB, LB, CM and a striker who scores consistently

There are some years where we go way beyond that and we know the money is there for the right players. I just think the situation is far more complicated in its solution than you’re making out, mate.

That's why I said average is £40-50m, the midfield rebuild was over and last summer was under. I hope the money is there because it'll be needed in the next 2 years. All 3 of our best players will need replacing not to mention the other areas of the squad

I don't think you can replace any of the 3 for the same money and get the same output in terms of numbers. That's not factoring in any potential resale value for Trent in the future.

I think VVD/Salah sign new deals and we become weaker at RB.

Two ways reg that post. If they asked for the unbelievable demands (i posted based on rumours Trent looking for 350k from 180k) it's not possible for the long sustainability of this club. Hope u knows that FSG wont take any single penny from LFC & they want to run it on self sustainability.

FSG will take a pretty penny, it's valued about £4bn more than they purchased it for. They also use the valuation to again other assets. Not to mention Hogan, Edwards etc who were all FSG got paid

Steele debunked Trent’s salary demands. I think that Trent will ask around 200,000 pound/week area. He will third highest paid player behind VVD and Salah. Trent will get the longer contract than Salah and VVD.

Based on reports LFC are willing to pay 250k & upto 300k max including bonus. Trent wants 350k+ as per earlier rumours. Dont know whether that numbers are true or not..? But if it's the financial constraint LFC wont pay 350k defo..Jude is on around 331K Pounds base (bonus are separate) at Madrid..👀

To be fair, I said the 200k pound area. It could be more 220k-250k range. As fans, we truly do not know Trent wants.
