The Trump administration broadened its effort to terminate thousands of probationary workers on Thursday, instructing agencies on a call to move forward with the layoffs.

WTAF? Don’t MAGAts believe in rehabilitation? Are they just going to lock everyone up in ever expanding prison camps or does he want the streets to be even more unsafe? What a completely stupid decision.
Stop repeating that lie. Even among registered voters, less than 49% of registered voters, voted for Trump. Only about 64% of eligible voters voted. Therefore a majority of Americans did NOT vote for Trump. Many were too apathetic to vote. They can pretend they have a mandate, but they don't.
I really doubt they thought this would be the outcome by firing everyone that works in the government. Burn it all down was not exactly what they were saying. I laugh because most of us knew, and the Mump voters were just too naïve. 🤣🤣🤣
They have demonstrated over and over again that they don't understand or care about the 2nd and 3rd order effects of their actions, something strategic thinkers practice organically. They have proven themselves incapable and the damage is immense. Absolute amateur hour.
There are two persons who should be fired, Trump and Musk. Regarding Musk an immigrant, kicked out of the country. He is a threat to national security. Did you know that???
They directed agencies to PREPARE for wide-scale reduction in force, not to IMPLEMENT it. Get your words right. I don’t like Orange Man, either, but at least be honest and forthright about things.
Trump and MAGA assume that probationary workers are Dems who are woke DEI hires and need to be removed and replaced by bird brain MAGA. What exactly is the reason why any federal worker is being asked to resign or get fired? Political. And why are the courts allowing this to go on?
Nah….that old man’s body is not going to last. I sincerely doubt it’s going to hold out the whole 4 years…Can you say president Vance….I think even Vance would be an improvement over Mump.
It’s a significant shift in policy. The implications for both workers and the agencies are monumental. It’ll be interesting to see how this impacts the broader job market and morale in government positions moving forward.
With all the firings and layoffs etc, isn't his jobless rate going to massively jump? How will he react to that? What was the jobless rate under Biden?
This post has news about VA and National Park Service employees two of whom are family members who have been working alongside emotionally fraught employees for days. Each day they all wonder who’s next.
Our govt/country is being invaded.Wake-up America & STOP this invasion we're lied to about ALL that is being shown to us.This "invasion" is being led by vindictive trump for being caught. Elmo bought his staor $250mill., He/trump need to be stopped - step up veterans & govt protect America
Whether you like this or not (and I don’t) the point here is that they’re probationary. Probationary workers can usually be let go with neither notice nor reason so long as it is done with the appropriate authority.
Probationary employee here, they actually have to fire you based on performance, it's illegal otherwise (for federal employment). It's the Merit System Principle #8 at 5 U.S.C. 2301. We're not at will employees, even as probationary employees.
im sorry that im a bit ignorant - is this _any_ agency? does this include military. I will also admit probationary isn't a concept im fully familiar with tbh
This sounds like a major shift in policy. It's interesting to see how these decisions will affect the workforce and the overall morale in government agencies. Do you think this move might backfire politically?
Without understanding what people’s jobs are; By firing so many ; they’re just throwing dirt into the wind hoping it doesn’t blow back into their faces.
