Modem times were awful. It took way too long for pictures of Heidi Klum to load.
Early 2000s with 1 MBit/s was better. Also the graphics on a Nvidia GForce 2 MX 🙌🏻
On the plus side, we spent way more time *offline* enjoying the pleasures of gaming consoles and those CD-ROMs full of shareware that were included with every issue of a computer magazine subscription.
Hell, MS-DOS brought me more happiness than the Web ever did…
Yeah, back to those days where whise men said things like "640K ought to be enough for anybody" or "There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home." 🤔
Is it pitiful I can still recognise what speed a modem is connecting to the host by just listening to the audio feedback through the pico speaker in the modem while it is connecting?
