Please clarify that the PCA is a very different group than the PCUSA, which is the mainline Presbyterian church in America.

Can confirm. The PCUSA's mess is qualitatively different than the PCA's, but there's a mess. (I mean... humans gonna human, there's ALWAYS a mess.)
At least that was the case before I moved to Canada, and joined the United Church, which... ho boy.
