And I'm sooo happy he lost his seat! He needs to feel a good dose of painful humiliation, in retributuion for his continual mean-spirited attacks that he took such pleasure in.
I never heard of Scott Galloway until a few months ago. Now I see him everywhere. In any event, he may be smart/right but he often comes across to me as condescending. I wish the talking heads on the left would stop preaching to those already on the left and figure out how to reach the middle.
And the painful irony is that my fellow Canadians voted for Carney because they thought he could stand up to Trump better than Poilievre. The fools fell right into his trap.
The only time we’ll ever thank that orange predator. He united most of us against a mini version of him here (but to be sure, many people did vote for Pierre…and that is still a frightening indication of how porous our borders and his ideology has been).
This is anecdotal but a few Canadian friends said they considered voting for the liberal candidates for the first time ever, simply because of what Trump is doing. They're pissed at the US and are happy to stick it to 'the man down south'
I normally vote NDP. But I had to strategically vote this time around, again. I’ll help the NDP get back next time. But Jagmeet made a huge sacrifice for us. I think he was strategic and he did what was best for Canada. I’m sad he lost his seat.
It's Trump, but don't discount the much needed change of liberal leadership to someone who is more of a technocrat and who can find alternate economic deals on short notice. That, and he's kinda nice
You probably can't view in this your country but here is JD Vance's close friend from college Jamil Jivani after his win, going on a rant against his former political boss, Ontario Progessive Conservative premier:
Conservatives in Canada are beginning to turn on each other like frenzied rabid beasts. After years of directing their hateful vitriol at former Prime Minister Trudeau, the only scapegoat they have left is their own unelected leader who doesn't even have seat in the House of Commons.
He's more of a MAGA guy, new to politics (byelection win last fall), and would be more of a preferred choice of the current White House as a PM than Poilievre.
As for Poilievre, after blowing a 24 point lead in the polls before Trudeau left, then losing his own seat last night, I shall now refer to him as "Pete" (Hegseth) for that level of campaign incompetence.
We gave a fourth term to the party that has given us a stagnant economy, high unemployment, a housing crisis, hyper-immigration, and Islamists owning our streets. Nothing to be proud of at all.
Trudeau will go down in history as doing what was right for Canada. Can anyone imagine Trump doing this? I imagine his poll numbers will be less than 30% approval sooner rather than later. He will definitely bring down the GOP with him. Without blinking. They’ll let him too.
The person with the best credentials won. PM Carney should let his Trade team negotiate with the US for the future version of Nafta and only meet FOTUS at either the G7 ( exception needed for Felons) or a signing. NO Oval office Fox event. Structure the agreement to penalise US violations
