For what we spend, the United States should be the healthiest nation among our peers. We aren’t; we pay significantly more for dramatically poorer outcomes. https://www.profgalloway.com/the-fix/

Why are your pharma and med device companies so profitable with share prices that have increased by over 1,000% and more over the course of a few decades??? Follow the money...
Also, in my lifetime I have watched the ‘adults in the room’ over inflate and crash the economy several times, one of which cost me my the home I have yet to regain. Why should a working class stiff consider the stock market to be any more rational than MMT?
I stopped reading when you started calling safety net programs "entitlements". Entitlements is when Elon Musk got 135 billion dollars in payment when he "saved" a net 25 billion (and by the way the "savings" are bogus. No "fraud or waste" was uncovered. )
Almost every step between doctor and patient is full of fraud, waste, and abuse. Not with people trying to get care and those actually giving it.
Follow the money.
The INSURANCE industry has no place in our economy, especially HEALTHCARE insurance. AMERICANS are financially, physically and mentally terrorized by these corps that are raking in BILLIONS in profits all while committing MASS MURDER. If a corp is considered people, then jail them!
My shoulders have been feeling weird, just kinda off. Ya know. Figured I should see whats going on.
MRI's booked. Because whatever. They're free.
F*cking LOVE Canada.
Nobody seems to talk about cutting defense spending. I mean its not like there isn't waste and fraud in the defense department, since the Pentagon can't pass a frickin' audit and they lose track of hundreds of billions of dollars. If they were any other agency, people would be outraged.
When the richest country that ever existed ranks at/near the bottom in the Western world, or sometimes globally, on ALL social-metrics for over 40 years continuously, then it begs the question: "who is intentionally screwing who?".
US won WWII & became the global superpower but the US public is the biggest loser amongst all the public of all Western/Advanced publics. Technology, Innovation, Military, and Wealth are NOT measures of a nation's health. Social-Metrics and Public-Health are the ture measures. No dignity in US!
So now we need to be able to distinguish between executive orders and executive suggestions. Pretty sure Trump would be happy with a deal lowering US drug prices while keeping pharma profit constant, which would be disastrous for low income countries. Remember the 50% tariff on Lesotho?
There are many reasons for our poor health in the USA. What we are charged for healthcare services has little correlation to our health and wellness as a nation. Many ppl lack access and suffer from poor diets and sedentary lifestyles. That said, healthcare is too expensive - time to fix it!
I had to ask a primary doctor if she could take my blood pressure and listen to my heart. She said we don’t do that. I was a little surprised. Offices aren’t very clean. No sinks insight.
Problem readily visible; greed of & preferential treatment for Healthcare Corporate SLIME via THE SYSTEM of crooked Pols, etc. THE SOLUTION? Equally obvious…change SYSTEM so CROOKS aren’t collaborating for THEIR OWN BENEFIT. That’s the problem; CROOKED SYSTEM survives-WHY? BC WE THE PEOPLE ALLOW IT…
The only simple (and predominantly true) reason is the lack of any value-added by "insurance" companies who (as your article mentions) then, because of complex rules and layers of second-guessing doctors, impose a huge administrative load on providers.
The NHS is imperfect but it looks for efficiency savings at scale constantly and effectively. America is fragmented with each stakeholder looking for profit instead
Scott, the rest of the world understands the basic economic concept of "inelastic demand." That is why health care is never going to be "priced" effectively in the so-called FREE MARKET. The problem is that Americans have valorized business and the private sector, and allowed greed to rule.
Rx is expensive - but only represents about 12% of our $5T healthcare spending - and "pricing transparency?" Just a big distraction b/c it's not agency to influence price.

It would be a good idea to eat healthier in the U.S. — it would save a lot on doctor and medication bills. Good luck
The only service in America where the customer pays the invoice without receiving a quote first.
I would LOVE to own a business like that!

And we let them prey on America. No longer. These assholes are going down.
