Its not clear if the 12th Amendment includes the 22nd Amendment as part of the eligibility requirements.

It was unfortunate that the 22nd Amendment drafters used the word "elected" rather than "elected or serve as".

It is likely because until the 25 Amendment several years later, it wasn't clear if VP did *become* the President or merely *acted* as President. But the 25 Amendment's drafters should have spotted this.

Also, there was no way to replace a VP before the 25 Amendment, so either the straight "Trump runs as VP" or "Trump appointed as VP, Gerald Ford style", wouldn't have been contemplated.

but surely Stooges A and B would break such an arrangement? I acknowledge the similar Russian experience, but my sense is there is sufficient political pluralism that it wouldn't translate
