I disagree. If you listen carefully he basically said that Trump was graciously, courteous, and not confrontational as he is in public speaking. He did not say he supported him. No, all of his credibility is gone now. The effect of his monologue was to soften Trump's image with people that are rightfully angry at him for his actions. The implication of what Maher said was, "maybe he's not so bad after all."
