It was boosting the party, which exists to win elections. And since you can no longer disqualify her for the elections already held, the only sensible punishment is to disqualify her for the elections ahead.

Also, Le Pen herself argued in favour of lifetime disqualification!

So, they should rather ban the party? After all, the party profited from it and probably Bardella will run for the office as the head of that party. That Le Pen once supported lifetime ban for felons is not really relevant here; she is not known for her intellectual integrity.

No, the party didn't commit the offences, she and the other officials did. They're the ones who are barred from running, not the party as a whole.
