I hate it as well, but that didn’t strike me as time wasting. No one was sprinting back into position or anything, unlike when Burn grabbed the ball

With respect, he was way outside his area and kicked a second ball onto the pitch right next to the ball that was being set for a free kick in order to stop it. If you cannot see this as time wasting — which I think your manager intended to be readable! — I don’t really know what to say.

I mean, this isn’t even close to what actually happened. It was a thrown in and not a free kick, and he kicked it long before the Newcastle player made it to touchline with a second ball

Looked to me that he mishit a pass back to the person throwing it in...

Seems to me Arteta is a proponent of getting his players, to compose themselves, to take a breathe, concentrate on delivery and execution. It is all very deliberate
