I have long wondered why Farmer Fred with 100ha of trees gets Carbon credits. The amount of CO2 absorption would be minuscule (if measurable!) compared with millions of hectares in national forests.

While carbon offset markets certainly don’t reduce emissions. By providing a justification for new fossil carbon projects they almost certainly INCREASE fossil carbon emissions. An under appreciated point perhaps 🤷
