Prime Time research is so superficial that they give us opinion from βPharmacyβ students, who will work in retail and not in pharma or medical device production- try talking to the relevant people please
If anything the reduced cost of production in Ireland reduces the costs of generics for American consumers; now what will happen is the cost of the tarrifs will be jacked onto the US consumer; further gouging.
The leases these firms have signed are far longer than the Trump admin will be in power.
Oh, they will double-dip on this too. The private healthcare system in America will claim that these tariffs drive up the prices in order for them to justify even larger increases over those prices in an effort to extort even more money from recipients. (Mind you, insurance is subsidized there also)
These US pharma firms export from Ireland to the rest of the EU and further afield too. It's not just immediate trade between the US-EU; Ireland serves as a stepping stone into the markets further to the east.
Not that the Trump admin cares; it's sound-bytes, not systems they want.
I am more upset that these leases were allowed in the first place; they are a way for large corporations to take advantage of at least two separate nations in order to enhance their bottom lines. Mine is more that of disagreement on fundamental principles.
It's a symptom of a greater malaise. Hyper-wealth, short term profit over long term prudence.
If the billionaires had any common sense, they would step in to restore some semblance of equity before we're storming the perimeter walls and trundling the guillotine into the town square.
