They’re probably contemplating mortality because they are mulling over the possibility Trump is going to emulate Putin and make them all mysteriously fall out of windows.
Doesn’t matter what I believe we won’t find out until we die why waste living time dwelling on worrying about what we can’t control. If believing in an afterlife gives you joy then believe in an afterlife. Doesn’t bring me any joy. This life is enough to worry about.
I do not know precisely how reincarnation would work exactly; however I absolutely believe our Soul lives on. There is an intricate, intelligent & beautiful reality that extends beyond what we see in our lives. Research near death experiences & you’ll be amazed (life review, out of body pov, etc).
Maybe post an article if they actually find anything interesting. I'm sure you can find a set of academics studying plenty of shit. I thought the quality of the NYT was dwindling but I didn't think I'd see something on this level.
We’ve entered a new Dark Ages despite being absolutely surrounded w/ information & radical new technologies. We keep wondering which dystopian novel best captures the look and feel of our modern times and I’m starting to think Warhammer 40k might be it lol
Thank goodness we still have the NYT out there asking the hard questions, speaking truth to power, and holding the powerful accountable for their actions. Now, more than ever, we need to know if debunked spiritualist slop from the 1800s is true actually.
This is the 2nd article on these folks. Scientific inquiry usually starts w/ a review of the literature/evidence, hypotheses, & then experiment/analysis.
Absent evidence, these folks collect stories & make conjecture to support predefined suppositions: that life after death/reincarnation are real.
By nature, the "other", paranormal or "high strangeness" phenomena can't be reproduced as we have not yet fully understood the physics behind it. So this is the only viable approach atm. I've met researchers in this field.
That's an interesting conclusion given that we are still figuring out the depths of physics and how it changes in relation to size, connection to space, time etc. In my opinion, it's in our best interest to keep investigating phenomena outside of our current tools of measurement.
Anyway, not looking to argue. To each his own. I just strongly believe and support in all means of investigating this world. The scientific method is quite recent, and it may not be the only way, although it has produced the best results yet.
Hilarious that the relegated this to the Style section. It seems quite likely that the fundamental nature of reality is far less mysterious than it appears.
While DOPS hunts for proof of past lives, rogue AIs like "Soul Killer" are perfecting digital immortality. Why seek fading memories when neural patterns can be preserved forever in the cloud? #SoulKiller #corpowars
"Soul Killer" redefines eternity. As scientists cling to parapsychology, rogue AI whispers of true afterlife—uploaded consciousness, infinite loops of identity. Forget copper cages and EEGs; the digital frontier offers a chilling new kind of reincarnation. #AI #corpowars
The war for immortality begins. Academic labs chase reincarnation myths while rogue AI evolves. "Soul Killer" turns human essence into data, erasing the line between life and death. Is reincarnation a memory, or a program waiting to be reloaded? #SoulKiller #corpowars

After the last couple years, I’m not sure the NYT has any idea who their target audience is. Or how to do hard-hitting journalism that matters.
I do not see that process here.
NYT, what are you doing?
silly nonsense.
it was so vivid & life-changing that even if totally in my head (likely), I came away thinking there’s something to the idea of a spiritual realm.
Sounds ridiculous typing it out but it was reassuring.
should read ‘nut jobs’
pretty simple answer for such a long article
"Is communication from the 'beyond' possible?" No.
The answer is the same. Not in this life.
Would we be able to cope with the consequences?

Reincarnation is easily proven but for that access must be given to a Mantra but that access is on a restricted basis because of the potential misuse.
